No Pun Intended

Folks, I believe in the philosophy "When something good is said and done, have no guilty take it, copy it, use it!" So despite my ingenious try to hide them if you spot someone else's words please don't mind, it’s intentional.

Also, I am very poor writer. If at all you find a laughable line please don't mind. It would probably be a mistake of mine.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  There is a very famous movie theatre in Lucknow. It's named Capitol. It’s uniqueness lies in the fact that it showcases only educational movies (Full pun intended). Indicating the fact, I'd often use the term "capitol-sonic" in my blog.

Now coming to the topic. Lucknowites have had the luxury of watching movies in multiplexes only for the past two years. Before that of course the passion for movies was no less. And single screen theatres were not that bad either. But there was a problem for Hollywood movie geeks like me! Only dubbed versions were released. And yeah, with shamefully changed names.

My first Hollywood movie, to my memory, was Jurassic Park. I was a tiny tot then and don’t remember much of it but thankfully they couldn't find other names for it. Same was for Titanic and Godzilla. They were what they were. But then came the twist. I am a hardcore fan of Angelina Jolie. I think she is the hottest thing out there. Tomb Raider was about to be released and I was very very excited. But other things painfully came into consideration when I saw its ad in the newspaper. "SHERNI NO. 1". Yeah this was what it was named in Hindi. And the problem was it sounded less of rani laxmi bai and more capitolsonic! I have had the luxury of being an adult only for a year and you may be a Jim-dandy at 12 but I could not gather the courage to ask my mother whether I could go and see sherni no. 1. I just imagined the beautifully oriented anger and disgust ex-pressions on my mother face. Anyways life goes on , old movies go, new movies are relesed and it goes on. Mission Impossible, Matrix, James Bond were showcased with respectful names and thus I could manage to see them.

Some great soul (other than me of course!) once said nothing is permanent in this world. Certainly not names! Next in line was Van Helsing. It was named some sort of "shikari" and its name had twins-lost-at-kumbh resemblance with a porn movie released in Capitol just few days back! In short, capitolsonic. I had grown up but still my fiend gave me a vision of humiliation I’d face if I ask my parents for this movie.

And now I heard that a really cool new secret agent movie was ready. I felt the same tremor in my mind and started wondering what would its name be? "sabse bada khiladi " or "Mahashaktimaan- ek mein teen ti takat (which is also ad line of a pill for men)" But few times in life are things more spectacular than you expect.
It was named XXX (which was more than indicative of capitol). Though my school is certified by Guinness as the world's largest school in a city we never had the luxury of big class rooms. I was a regular frontbencher and it was our Hindi class. My friend, Alok, was sitting in the third row. Now our Hindi adhyapika was quite an old lady (with all due respect because no female ever wants to be called old!!) I just asked one thing,"Alok, XXX dekhni hai? ". May be by now you'd have judged what had happened. My teacher looked at me in disgust. I have still not forgotten the embarrassment I faced with all my classmates, especially girls around (cos guys are used to this stuff!).

Oh! I just forgot to mention about two more movies. Lets accept it, Hollywood babes are hot and when three of them are together doing action sequences, wow! I am talking about Charlie’s Angels. I don't remember what the first one was named but am sure it was capitol sonic. Yeah but its sequel was named, "Katil Hasinayen" (or some other combination but with same words) God save me!

But things have surely changed for better and India is definitely shining (at least for those who can afford a piece of the cake!). We got our first multiplex two years back and since then I no longer have to cope up with such problems (I am an adult by the constitution of India, so my mom had no problems with my watching XXX-2). Single screen theatres continue to showcase dubbed versions that sometimes give me a chance to laugh for free. Don’t believe me? Check out "Da Vinci Ka Rahasya" and "Slither (named Badalta Jism)"

Now guys I have written a blog after two odd years so I know its not that good. But love it, hate it do write a comment or mail me the feedback. However, if you don’t, I wont give it a damn. Till then it’s ACP signing off.
